The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa was a charming enemies-to-lovers romance, and I really loved it! It has multiple POVs, Lina (short for Carolina) and Max. Lina is a meticulous wedding planner, and Max is the communications manager helping Lina get a job as the exclusive event planner of The Cartwright Hotel. However, things are more complicated: Lina was engaged to and left at the altar by Max's brother, Andrew, three years before.
I loved seeing a romance based in Washington, D.C. My hometown is a suburb of the nation's capital, so seeing a romance that was close to me (and even traveled into Virginia, my home state!) was really refreshing to have a new setting that had significance to me too. I also really appreciated the exposure to Brazilian Portuguese. I studied this language for a linguistics project during my senior year of college, and I loved seeing more of it in this book! I love learning new languages or experiencing new languages and cultures in my reading.
More specifically about the book, I really liked that Lina and Max brought out the best in each other. Yes, it's enemies-to-lovers, but they also understand they have to work together to nail their sales pitch to get Lina the job and Max the responsibility he wants in his job. This was just a really great feel-good romance, and I hope you read it! It's also great for book clubs; I read this with mine with some of my sorority sisters for our February pick!
Have you read The Worst Best Man? I'd love to know your thoughts on it too and start a conversation!
