*Warning: There are spoilers for Week 6 of The Bachelorette in this post!*
Hometowns are always my favorite episode of each season because I love how deep each connection gets and seeing how each family is different but also so loving and protective of their son/daughter/relative. I love how they plan a date with the lead and it shows another part of themselves that they might not have discussed already or not discussed in depth. It just makes my heart happy.
This week, I was kind of shocked by Charity sending Aaron B. home. I really thought she was going to send Joey packing because of her concerns with Uncle Joe and how he put Charity on red alert that she might not be getting the full Joey, in which he elaborated saying Joey tends to morph into what his partner wants him to be as a people pleaser (which I also totally relate to).
I think a part of this is because Charity and Aaron had a lot of catching up to do since they hadn't gotten a lot of one-on-one time since their first date, which was the first one-on-one of the season six weeks earlier. It looked like in the footage we saw and what Charity had said was that they were right back on track and essentially on par with her other connections after Aaron's hometown in Houston. But I guess since all of her stronger connections also picked up in emotional depth that meant her connection with Aaron wasn't where she wanted it to be for fantasy suites.
Xavier's hometown was the most surprising to me. I didn't realize he was from Cleveland, and since I live in Ohio, I was like "oh that's cool!" It also seemed like throughout this entire season, Charity has reminded us that he is most similar to her ex, and it's honestly bringing me a lot of fear and trepidation on Charity's behalf because I feel like she could definitely get hurt treading into this as an engagement gets closer.
I'm very interested in how hometowns will go because neither the men (obviously) or Charity has been in a fantasy suite, so expectations are very lofty and not really defined. I'm wondering if Charity will have boundaries for herself like Zach did with his fantasy suites, which we all know went incredibly horribly and backfired. The previews at the end of this week's episode also made it look like hell broke loose and chaos was at every turn. I guess we'll see next week!
